A friend of mine once told me she loves to wear kimono-style robes as formal evening wear, but lamented that they don't make them floor-length. I was immediately interested, and asked her what she was looking for exactly. We then sat down together and drafted this pattern. The idea is that it is oversized, slit up the sides and meant to be worn open or tied at the waist.

 

It was so cool to make a commission piece like this because thanks to Spoonflower.com, my friend got to choose her favourite fabric, and I ordered it for her, along with some other ones. She chose this beautiful blue fabric which is a design by @purple_paper_pattern which I am absolutely in love with! It is made with Spoonflower's super soft and shiny polyester satin.
