Post apocalyptic warthog mask
This project was an amazing adventure. Over several weeks of work, we went from plaster strips to a moulded leather mask.

The first step is to mould our faces with plaster strips dipped in water. Then the mould is closed and filled with liquid plaster. Once we have the shape of the head, nails and more plaster are used to make the desired shape of the mask. This is a long but fascinating sculpting process.
Then, a special type of vegetable tanned lamb leather is moulded with water on the plaster shape. If necessary, some seams need to be sewn up.

I went for a post-apocalyptic look, chanelling my love of Mad Max and Borderlands as if a wasteland survivor had skinned a warthog to make a gas mask for himself. It is complete with ears and tusks. I added a few sets of synthetic dreadlocks, a pair of goggles, a set of straps to secure it all, and a strip of LED lights to add the technological touch. The led strip is connected to a belt with the battery pack hidden in an old broken connector block. The broken goggle glass is made with pieces of an old silicone suction cup, I cannot have sharp hard objects near the eyes!
I am very happy with the result! It is comfortable, lightweight and feels robust. Only wish i had better designed the goggles, they are resting a bit high on the eyes...

I hope that soon I can make the rest of the costume that would go with this!
